Captain Andrew W. Laud Heroes Gallery Wall of Honor Unveiling
Description
"A nation reveals itself not only by the men it produces, but also by the men it honors, the men it remembers." - John F. Kennedy, 1963
Throughout our history, brave men and women have risked and sacrificed their lives in service to our great country. They have served our nation with courage, honor, and distinction. The Captain Andrew W. Laud Heroes Gallery Wall of Honor pays tribute to the enduring legacy of these men and women. Please join us for an unveiling on Sunday, July 5, 2026 at 1:00 PM. In recognition of America's 250th, the program will include a reading of the Declaration of Independence and a brief reception afterwards. Participation is free, but RSVPs are requested for planning purposes.
*Thank you to the family of Captain Laud for making this memorial program possible.*
Andrew joined the Army National Guard after graduating from Hanover Central High School in 2010, completed basic training, and earned a degree in criminal justice from Indiana University Northwest before joining the regular Army. He followed in the footsteps of his paternal grandfather, who served in the military and was at Pearl Harbor when it was attacked. At one point during his military service, he worked in Texas doing border patrol. Andrew, who flew UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters, served in Afghanistan from 2017 to 2018 and was awarded the Air Medal. He was serving as a Captain and Company Commander of HHC6-101st Aviation in Fort Campbell, KY, at the time of his death. He was a member of the Cedar Lake American Legion Post 261, The Sons & Daughters of Pearl Harbor Survivors, Northern Indiana Chapter, and Cedar Lake Knights of Columbus, Marian Council 3840. Andrew was honored by his Unit at Fort Campbell, HHC, 6-101 CAB. The Battalion Command conference room was named in his honor.
